A Neighborhood Response Team police officer attends the general meetings, reports current trends, and recommends crime prevention strategies.

RNA members volunteer for graffiti removal and neighborhood walk/watch, and Block houses are designated as available in emergency situations.

The neighborhood works closely with Southeast Uplift and Portland’s Southeast Precinct to address crime, safety, and livability issues as they occur.

The police department and the Department of Transportation are working with the RNA board to respond to street safety concerns.

Police are available when there are requests for extra patrols and for monitoring the speed of street traffic. Reed College and RNA are working with the Dept of Transportation to increase safety for pedestrians by installing a crosswalk on Steele Street. Requests for extension of designated bike lanes have been initiated.
