The borders of Reed neighborhood are: to the west marked by the railroad tracks (approximately SE 23rd Ave.); to the north marked by SE Holgate Blvd. (south side of the street); to the east marked by Cesar E. Chavez Blvd./SE 39th Avenue (westside of the street); to the south marked by SE Woodstock Blvd. and heading north along SE 28th Avenue and again west along the golf course to the railroad tracks.
Bounded on the west by the Union Pacific rail yards, Reed includes an area of light industrial and commercial businesses from SE 24th to SE 28th Avenues. They include (among others) floor and cabinetry shops, stone masons, auto restoration, door and clothing manufacturing, two breweries and a winery, food warehousing, cleaning services, and small businesses sharing warehouse space.
From SE 28th Ave. to SE Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., the neighborhood is primarily residential. To the south, it is bordered by the Reed College campus. Reed neighborhood is walking distance to schools, churches, and shopping, and is bordered by parks and the protected natural wetland habitat of the Reed Lake and Crystal Springs Creek.
