This is a reminder that the next Reed Neighborhood meeting has two excellent speakers.
Reed Neighborhood Meeting
Wednesday, November 13th, from 7-8:30 PM (6:30 Meet & Greet)
Room 104 in the Performing Arts Building (PAB) on the Reed College Campus.
Red Cross Presentation on Emergency Preparedness
We hear that Joe Ohana from the Red Cross is an excellent speaker! Please invite your neighbors–our success in a disaster will depend on individually prepared houses.
Gary Granger will give a presentation on the Portland Crow Roost Study. Every Portlander sees families of crows in their neighborhood on a daily basis, but what you may not know is that during the winter the local birds join thousands of others in a dramatic gathering in our downtown area forming a nightly roost. This urban roost is a unique natural spectacle that makes Portland a special place, similar to the annual return of the Vaux Swifts in the Chapman School chimney.
The people doing this Crow Roost study are longterm Portland (and suburb) residents who have engaged in this community science project studying the urban crow roost in Portland for the past 3 years. They monitor the crow roost weekly, do population counts and document night roost locations. They are working closely with Audubon of Portland on this project.

We look forward to seeing you there!
