More about the Brooklyn Station Areas Project

The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is developing land use, transportation and urban design strategies for the close-in SE station areas on the Portland Milwaukie Light Rail line – OMSI,Clinton, Rhine and Holgate. Draft ideas for the station areas were developed over the summer with public input through the Inner SE Station Areas process. These ideas are now being refined through two separate processes. The Rhine and Holgate ideas will be refined through the Brooklyn Station Areas project. OMSI and Clinton ideas will be addressed through the SE Quadrant Plan.

During the Brooklyn process, community members and staff will discuss the following potential changes for the neighborhood, and possibly other ideas as identified in the process:

§         Should the zoning change from residential to commercial along Milwaukie Avenue, south of Center Street?

§         Should there be changes to the zoning, use and/or development character in other areas of the neighborhood, including 17th Street and the area south of Holgate Blvd.?

§         How can access to area schools, light rail stations, the river, and across arterials and barriers, such as Powell, Holgate, McLoughlin and the Brooklyn Rail Yard, be improved?
